And why I used to only drink my coffee standing up.
I used to drink my morning coffee standing up. Not because I was late. But because sitting down first thing after getting up felt like setting a tone that I had nowhere more important to be, and I always needed somewhere more important to be. I drank it over the sink, checked my phone with the other hand, and called it efficient.
It took me until my thirties to notice I couldn’t remember what my own kitchen looked like in the morning light. I’d been standing in it every day for seven years but couldn’t remember which direction the sun came in.
